The Patient Participation Group is keen to ensure that all patients are actively involved in deciding how the health services they use should develop.
Your Virtual Patient Group?
Creating a virtual group enables us to broaden the reach and influence of the PPG. For those patients who are unable to personally attend meetings at the surgery the introduction of the ‘Virtual Patient Group’ will give them the means and the opportunity to be involved in the discussions and actions being taken in improving and increasing the healthcare services being offered by the surgery.
It is your opportunity to have your say!
Objectives of the VPG
The objectives of the virtual group are to achieve a wider and more comprehensive input of patient comments, suggestions, and proactive involvement in their provision of healthcare services, both locally, regionally and nationally.
Gender & Type
The current main group comprises the ‘more senior’ members of the community. We are therefore looking for a greater input and representation from the all age groups within the practice population.
We would like to see a broad a spread of male and female virtual members to get a truly representative group; and, especially to encourage involvement from young people (teens upwards), from parents, from people with long term conditions and people from non-British ethnic groups.
A good cross section of patients with a wide range of medical history, from the ‘very healthy’ to those with long term conditions as well as those with disabilities would be very useful.
We hope that we can attract a wider group of members not only from Winchcombe, but also the outlying villages/towns within the practice population area.
Why should you join the VPG?
Joining the ‘virtual group’ really does enable every patient to ‘have their say’ about how the practice delivers the healthcare solutions. It can invoke a sense of ‘self help’ in getting patients to be more aware of their own health issues and taking control. It also enables the main group and the practice management to ‘think outside the box’ – to get a wider and more diverse input.
Benefits to Wincobank Medical Centre & the PPG
The virtual group involvement, as a parallel group, will offer a wider input of ideas, thoughts and suggestions from a more representative patient group. It will enhance the overall activities.
